Data Mosaic
Software for exploration and mining
Data Mosaic is an advanced software solution that gives the exploration or mine geologist the ability to rapidly and accurately turn numerical drill hole data into useful geological information.
What is Data Mosaic?
- Data Mosaic provides a rapid, reliable interpretation of drill hole data.
- Designed by geologists for geologists, it provides a simple, intuitive interface for applying sophisticated mathematical and machine-learning methods to your data.
- The incorporation of spatial information reduces misclassification and allows easy upscaling of results.
- Multiscale results provide geological information for generating 3D models at any scale – from large-scale geology models down to detailed orebody models.
Who is it for? Anyone who collects, manages or uses geoscience data from mineral exploration drilling (e.g. geochemistry, mineralogy, downhole geophysics, assays).
Upcoming Development
The next generation of Data Mosaic now currently in development at CSIRO.
PROBLEM
The main challenges integrating drill data: - Prioritising data - Reliance on subjective interpretations - Irregular sampling/analyses and missing data - Unknown metadata (e.g., detection limits) - Spatial relationships between drill holes
SOLUTION
A significant update of Data Mosaic’s back-end mathematics, enabling geoscientists to make the most of heterogeneously available, highvolume, multi-dimensional datasets with significantly reduced time investment and subjectivity.
BENEFITS
- Robust lithology detection to optimise logging and constrain 3D modelling
- Higher confidence characterisation and vectoring to ore
- Defining geometallurgical domains and deleterious material
